COMPANY IS A BIG SCAM
PLEASE AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COST. My mum made a will with their will writing sister company. In April 2022 I contacted the will company who passed me onto their legal team fidelis after telling us about a package they had to offer which included everything from closing down my mum's estate to dealing with the house sale, probate and eventually distributing the estate, this would cost £3000. They told me on that first call that probate cost £450 but as we were going through them it would only be £300 but I needed to pay it that day so probate could be filed for, which I did. Only 9 months later after when I eventually had to file for probate myself, I find out that probate is only £275 so they are blagging the greiving from the very first phone call, they are vultures disguised in suits praying on the vulnerable. 6 months after initially instructing them, I had to chase them up to get the house on the market. They placed it with an estate agent who wasn't local, could only provide viewings on a Saturday and after a week on the market wanted to reduce it by 10,000. We decided to list the house ourselves. At this point we were under the impression everything with probate was moving along as they started that in the April when they insisted they needed the £300 that day to file for probate straight away. Only 9 months down the line we receive on offer on the property to be told that probate hadn't even been filed for. We then started to receive summons from my mum's council tax, after contacting council tax, they confirmed no legal company had ever been in touch regarding my mum's account so I had to pay the outstanding amount myself to avoid the court costs. This was all included in the package, they took over as executors of my mum's estate so they could deal with all of this. They didn't, they didn't contact the relevent places regarding her accounts, they didn't file for probate, you cannot get past the receptionist to speak to anyone, they ignore your emails. We have now taken the estate back over and they have stepped down so I received an invoice.........an estimated invoice they demanded I pay in full in 7 days. This invoice was for over £2000. They refused to give us the £300 we initially paid for probate back and have taken it off this estimated invoice. They have estimated the invoice based on charging the estate at an interest of 2.45% of what the estate is worth but estimated the estate being worth thousand of pounds more than it was, obviously hiking their estimated fees up. We have asked for proof of the works carried which they haven't provided, they have billed us for post redirection but upon trying to get the post back from them so we can deal with the estate ourselves correctly they have now said that during the whole time the post has been being redirected to themselves they've not received any and therefore have not got any post to send us back. Since this was billed on the invoice I contacted royal mail myself who told me no redirection had ever been put on my mum's address. I'm awaiting evidence from fidelis this was put in place but I'm sure I won't get any. I've been giving two different figures as my bill amount. THIS COMPANY IS NOT HERE TO HELP YOU, THEY ARE OUT TO ROB YOU. PLEASE PLEASE AVOID. UPDATE.........this company has left my mum's property uninsured for a whole year they've refused to provide me with evidence of documents they are charging me for, on Sunday they sent me an unpaid invoice as proof of the insurance document and told me they had already paid this and if I didn't pay I would be passed to their debt collectors. I decided to call the insurance company myself who confirmed they had set a policy up with them on the wrong address and they had been chasing them for the money since October. Even if they had insured the right address and paid the premium it wasn't until 6 months after they took over my mum's estate. They still haven't provided me with the 9 digit reference they would have received from royal mail had they set up a redirection, which would easily prove one had been set up. When challenged about the estimated invoice they've change their story and now it isn't an estimated fee it is a fixed fee. They've actually done nothing other than try to scam me out of over £2000. Again I cannot stress how much this company are thieves. They will not speak to you on the phone once they've been caught but email instead threatening you with the debt collectors when you challenge them. When I sent over the proof from the insurance company I simply received an email back telling me to put in a formal complaint. No apology that They've left my mum's property uninsured and had just been caught out lying. Please avoid at all costs.
