A company who, I feel, are out for all they can steal

Review on behalf of my girlfriend. I ordered some boots from this retailer which arrived in a battered box. When I opened the box the boots were in good condition, however were too big. I tried these on upstairs in a carpeted area, walking from one bedroom to the other to check the fit. I decided to return them and was intending the order the smaller size. After a week and a half I received the boots back and the box was even more battered. I checked my account and had a notification about my return - they had decided they were not authorising my return as the boots were not in a re-sellable condition as there was a mark on the side (the boots were in the exact condition I received them in). I raised this with SilkFred and after a long wait they decided to agree with the brand saying that I didn’t mention the mark - why would I when the mark was barely perceivable. Effectively calling me a lair and insinuating I had made the mark. They were also patronising, telling me to try boots on in a carpeted area in future. I will not be buying anything else from this dodgy retailer who I feel are out for all they can steal from their customers. I’ll be spending my money on quality products with reputable companies in future. Edit following a response from the retailer: they’ve just been calling me a liar saying the item wouldn’t have passed a quality check when they were returned in the same condition I received them. Don’t use this company, spend your money on quality products from a reputable company
