I have been using IXL for a couple of years with my students and I love it! One thing, I recommend is do not place students to do IXL and learn on their own. I use IXL explicitly after a lesson. To me, the only time a child should be working on IXL on their own would be to review a topic from a lower grade. They can review: shapes, multiplication, area etc. If they struggle, please teach it to them first before they get back on it. Also, guide the child by telling them which ixl assignments you want them to complete. It is too overwhelming for a child to sit there and not know where to begin. Lastly, yes the problems do get more difficult as they are getting closer to 100% so to avoid frustration have your child only reach up to 75% or 80%. I hope this helps.
