GRAHAM LISTER High Risks and low Customer Service Is this company only interested in making money. There are many reviews documenting the apparent low cost of a trip with RSD, but which escalate quickly when ‘additions’ arise. Whilst we all appreciate good value, it should come with quality and service. However these are sadly lacking with this company. Enough has previously been said about the very average quality and the ‘special packages’ with their associated costs, e.g. tours, meals …visits to carpet, jewellery and leather factories. What is shocking is the lack of concern by the company for the customer. Having booked the 15 night trip to Morocco leaving on the 12th March, we naturally needed to satisfy ourselves regarding health and safety. On the previous day the WHO had declared COVID-19 a World Pandemic; and advice on TV was to contact your travel company. On attempting to do this it was found the RSD desk had not at that time opened (it retained its normal hours). At this point it was 2 hours before check in, so the emergency number was used, despite the note on the company travel information stating ‘last minute cancellation of the trip is NOT an emergency-please direct this matter to us in writing only’ The representative stated the trip was going ahead, despite the Foreign Office’s website stating Morocco had introduced unspecified measures regarding the virus, which had to be complied with. The company could not give any information about the measures, nor confirm if isolation would be introduced on arrival in Morocco. At 9.00a.m. (now only 1 hour from check in) RSD was again contacted and they stated the trip was going ahead and could not be refunded or postponed with vouchers. The representative was very abrupt and unhelpful and stated a cancellation e-mail needed to be sent immediately. At that point we decided not to proceed with the holiday. A difficult but subsequently the right decision. Six days later we are at home watching the chaos at Marrakech airport, where hundreds of people are unable to get flights to the UK. Will we travel with RSD again? NEVER.
