We stayed in unit 877 of Island Winds…
We stayed in unit 877 of Island Winds West from February 1-March 1, 2019 and were happy overall with the unit. A couple of things to note: This unit is by the elevator and there is a lot of noise from that, as well as some sort of compressor that rumbles off and on all night. The washer screeches on the spin cycle, and the mattress pad had stains on it... totally disgusting. The microwave plate doesn’t turn because the pin at the bottom is broken, but we were able to still use it. None of these were really deal-breakers for us, however. Updating in the unit was very nice, and we hope that updating will continue to the exterior doors and hallways at some point. We love the beachfront location and that view is why we continue to go to Gulf Shores. It would be nice to have a heated pool in either East or West since the water in the Gulf is too cold for swimming. A personal note here... we had two of our family members and their wives in IW East. One unit, 604, was fine. Unit 405 was an embarrassment and I really hope Brett Robinson sets some higher standards for owners. I’ll let my family do their own review, but I am frustrated that they had such a poor unit to stay in.
