ALDI BASS HILL PLAZA HAS TO BE THE…
ALDI BASS HILL PLAZA HAS TO BE THE RUDEST SUPERMARKET IN SYDNEY. This afternoon I called into Aldi Bass Hil land whilst waiting at the check-out to leave there were three people in front of me. The first was a well dressed young African Man, He pulled a folded plastic carry bag from his pocket which was very creased and one of the handles was quite stretched. In quite an aggressive voice she said to him "Are you sure you didn't get it from the Store" Open it, I want to see inside, do you have a receipt for it" The Gentleman replied "why did you ask me that, I bring a bag with me every time I shop here and you are the first to ever question it". His English was impeccable. The cashier did not respond to him but to the next Lady in line in a loud voice "See, they don't understand a word I say to them - they just don't" The Gentleman showing obvious signs of embarrassment, quickly left the store after being the subject of such a racially motivated slur, The Lady to whom this comment was made was Muslim and had 3 bags of Woolworths shopping in her trolley which she had opened for inspection. The Cashier said to the Lady in a very aggressive manner "Oh you're one of those who do most of their shopping at Woollies - I hope you have a receipt for all that". Pulling out a receipt the Lady replied "Yes, Would you like to come and check it". She was then ignored. The gentleman in front of me had quite a quantity of groceries and moved his trolley to load it as it passed through the register and was standing to the side of the trolley After the Cashier had finished, she said to me in a very aggressive manner " Move your Trolley around here" which I could not do safely - she turned and screamed "I SAID - Move your Trolley around here" and again a few seconds later "MOVE YOUR TROLLEY". i am in my 70"s and have a disability affecting my back so I have to be very careful how I move. When I could safely do so I moved to the front of the check-out and said to the Cashier, Why are you so rude to customers - if you can't be pleasant and polite you shouldn't be in this job" She signaled the Store Duty Manager, a short gentleman of Middle Eastern appearance who walked down and as he was approaching I said to him "I am sorry sir but you have to have the rudest cashier I have ever encountered" being quite prepared to relate to him all the incidents that occurred. He immediately held his hand up to my face level indicating not to say anything more. He turned to the Cashierand asked what the problem was. She said to him "I asked him very politely to come round here and he abused me." Expecting him to then listen to my side, I was totally set back when he said to me " We don't want Rude people in this Store" pointed to the exit and walked off. As I was leaving I walked over to him and said to him "As a Manager, you should never allow your staff to treat your customers in that manner: His reply as he again pointed to the exit "We don't want people like you here". I have to say I was set back by the treatment served out to both the African gentleman and the Muslim lady given the cashier herself was of Asian appearance The only conclusion I could come to was that if an employee at Aldi Bass Hill, you can be as rude and racist as you like to Customers knowing that the Management will fully support your insidious behavior I recommend any Aldi Customer in the area to shop at Aldi, Milperra where the staff are always extremely pleasant, helpful and a pleasure to shop with. Avoid the rudeness, racism and belittlement at Bass Hill.
