Big billing mistakes - Do not expect a refund when you switch despite paying in advance
Updated - Worse than expected As agreed when I signed up, Yuno bills in advance based on estimated usage. I moved away from Yuno on the day my annual contract was up. I received no final bill from Yuno, despite asking for it 3 times. My billing date was the 25th of every month and I moved on 31st August 2024. Today is 11th November 2024, and the contact centre chat rep informed me (when I made contact) that I owe them €3 and there is no refund due. This is despite the fact that I paid for my monthly usage in advance on 25th August, and cancelled 6 days later. Today they issued me a make-shift balancing statement of total KWH for the year I was with them. They have over calculated this by a small amount vs ESB Networks records. However, I have recalculated all of my monthly bills since August 2023. Based on my calculation of the rate per KWH, plus daily standing charge, plus VAT - their bills were less than they should have been in the first 3 months. To be clear this is the amount based on actual usage, not their payment in advance that is an estimate. In short, they are hiding their mistake their bill calculations by issuing a balancing statement that mops up the mistakes. To anyone expecting a refund at the end of their contract - calculate your bills yourself to be sure. I will inform the CRU. For anyone else considering YUNO - DO NOT GO NEAR THEM
