Extremely Disappointing Experience – No Compassion or Flexibility
I booked this hotel for a family trip (five people) and we had everything organised, including flights, activities, and accommodation. Unfortunately, due to an unexpected and unavoidable event, we were unable to travel to Amsterdam on the planned dates. I informed the hotel of the situation and requested a cancellation and refund almost a month in advance. I explained the exceptional circumstances and appealed for understanding and flexibility. While I’m aware that the booking was technically non-refundable, their own policy states that refunds may be considered at the hotel’s discretion depending on the situation. Regrettably, they showed no willingness to review the case or show any empathy. They simply referred to the non-refundable clause and refused to return any of the money. Despite having ample notice, they chose to keep the full amount without even engaging in a meaningful discussion. This was not a last-minute cancellation — it was almost a month in advance. I’ve never experienced such a lack of compassion or basic common sense from a hotel before. I am extremely disappointed and frustrated. I strongly advise others to book elsewhere — somewhere with a more flexible and humane approach in case of emergencies. Otherwise, you risk losing your money unfairly, just as I did.
