If you are due a refund read on .... I have left 2 previous reviews regarding this Company. I switched in October and yes you guessed it, had a credit balance of nearly £400.00. It is clear from the reviews on here that Economy Energy for whatever reason are unable to action credit refunds to their customers in a timely manner. If you are owed money you have 2 options - the Ombudsman or take them to the small claims court. I did the latter but please note only when I had evidence of the refund I was due i.e. copies of the final bill on my account showing the credit. I sent a pre action letter to Economy Energy on 7th November giving them 7 days to refund my money. No response, so at 5:00 pm on 14th November I went on the MCOL website and issued a claim. It is very user friendly. By 5:00 pm on 15th November I had a full refund in my bank account. This may not work for everyone but in my case it was certainly clear that a County Court claim took me to the top of the refund queue. If I had gone to the Ombudsman I would probably be 1 week now into an 8 week waiting game before I got a refund. Economy Energy really do need to address their refund process if they want to stay in the energy business. The Directors must be aware and as with many companies these days, the incompetence at the top will be its downfall. Consumers are much more savvy now and if they are sensible, carry out a little due diligence on review websites before signing up. Trustpilot alone must be putting off thousands of potential customers for them. A few one line verified positive reviews will not cut it. Wood and trees spring to mind!
