30GB data allowance abroad is a LIE!
We've been loyal Lebara customers in the past 10 years. We decided to take a break and set off for 3-4 months to travel in Europe. All their plans come with roam like home which means you can use your unlimited calls texts and data up to 30GB per month abroad. We both had the 30GB plan with 100minute international calls. Checked their terms and conditions which says you can use their services abroad for max 180days in a year so I thought all will be fine. We set off on Easter Sunday and just after 2 months and 7 days abroad on 26th June my wife received the following text and email: "Hello, your roaming usage exceeds fair usage policies because you are using your phone more in roaming than you do at home in the UK. An additional surcharge of 0.20p/MB for data, 0.01p/sec for incoming calls, 0.04p/sec for outgoing calls and 0.8p per SMS will start to apply after 15 days of this notification." Now 20th April was the 110th day in 2025 but only 67 days later they sent the above email on 26th June saying we are using our phones longer than 110 days outside the UK in roaming mode????? Explain how!!! The most shocking thing is that I myself use Lebara too with a separate account and I did't received any emails and texts from Lebara but they disconnected my sim card on 11th July without any warning! Later that day my wife's card was also blocked by Lebara making any calls text and data usage (15 days after theit email on 26th June). My phone has graphs of all kind of data usage like wifi, mobile and roaming data and my roaming data usage was 11.37Gb in April, 8.07Gb in May and 8.99Gb in June so I'm 100% sure we did not exceed the max allowance of 30GB data in every month so their claimed 30GB data usage per month in Europe is a blatant LIE! We decide to buy local top-up sim cards instead becaise what they ask is extortionate and I won't pay a penny when I know we did not exceed what they claim! Shame on you Lebara, you've just lost 2 customers. On our return to the UK we will chose a different provider as there's plenty to chose from.
