Un ugly experience

We rented a car at the end of May. Unfortunately, after 60 km or so, in the middle of a regional road, the motor has stopped, and we couldn't move any more. We contacted the Assistance service (it took us a real effort to do that), and they promised to fix the problem. We've been waiting on the road for 5-6 (! hours), despite the fact that we were only 60 km from the company's premises. Meanwhile 5 or 6 different persons contacted us, and we had to explain the problem again, but it didn't help. One of the persons who contacted us even suggested that it was us who damaged the car (!!!). Incredible. Finally, after much of that useless communication, tens of calls from my side, a tow truck came to pick up the car, and they suggested us to call for a ... taxi to bring us back to the rental office, although a person from the rental company had assured us that we will be taken care of. I won't go to further details, as they were too ugly. Well, later the company gave us another car, everything went rather smoothly after that incident. Unfortunately, no compensation was offered for the whole day we lost and the stress we experienced. A nice person at the customer desk expressed her regrets for the company's losses (towing service and reparation costs). We do understand that but is it the customer's fault that the company hadn't checked the technical state of the car? That simple gesture would have prevented all this fuss. And so called 'customer service' was non existant in our case. That was a really ugly experience. That's why I can not recommend Centauro Rent a Car as a reliable company.
