Discriminatory approach
As a tenant, I failed this company's check because my employer is not based in the UK, which would require extra effort on their part to verify my information (and, obviously, they don’t want to do that). They are not interested in providing a qualitative assessment—if something is unclear to them, they simply deduct points. One of the reasons for my rejection was that instead of using Open Banking, I provided bank statements. However, Rightmove offered two options for income verification: (1) Open Banking or (2) submitting bank statements. I don’t understand why they even offer the second option if they’re just going to use it against the tenant.
