DON'T DO IT!

Don't do it regardless what you are offered unless it's free. My wife and I have been Marriott Vacation owners for many years. This has been one of the most frustrating and costly experiences which we regret. We are trapped with no cost-effective way out. The number of vacation locations is limited, and availability is extremely low unless you buy a tremendous number of points at a cost only very wealthy people can afford. We have been misled or lied to by salespeople several times. We purchased more points a few years ago because the salesperson promised us Marriot was planning to add additional vacation locations that we hadn't booked already. Well, that was an outright lie. Marriott is selling more and more points every day to unsuspecting people making it almost impossible to book a vacation when you want to go. This year is the worse vacation season we've ever seen. Almost every location if fully booked. Making matters worse, the number of points required for a single night stay has increased because available in every desirable location is low or non-existent. Furthermore, our maintenance fees have tripled since we first purchased. The maintenance fees for a week we purchased years ago costs us $222 for a single night stay. This make no sense because anyone can go online and book a room at the same resort for an additional hundred dollars or so more per night. By the way, if you need to sell you will get pennies on the dollar. What really makes us mad is that we are retired and now our maintenance fees are more than the taxes on our home which is crazy. I beg you, avoid buyer's remorse and run away as fast as you can.
