Waves Car Wash

Overcharging because my car wasn’t clean enough to be washed!
Waves Car Wash at Sidcup used to be excellent. When it relaunched after Covid, the manager was friendly, welcoming and they did an excellent job. But he’s since left, it’s been so badly understaffed, I was told the wait time would be over 2 hours. They also overcharge you and have left part of my wife’s car unwashed. So I tried Waves at Tesco Orpington. I went a few weeks ago, and even though I got overcharged by £5, they did a good enough job. I went back today and asked for the inside and outside to be cleaned (which should be £30). The manager (Razahi Omar) asked to look inside the car, which he admitted just needed a hoover. But he said because the outside of the car was “too dirty”, he could do it for £50!! I was stunned. It wasn’t “too dirty” at all - just the normal amount of dirt you’d expect before washing it (I have photos to prove this). He said it was a surcharge. When I said “so you’re charging me extra to clean my car because it’s not clean enough for you?” he just said “ok, I could do it for £45”. I refused. He then said “you clearly didn’t have it cleaned here last time” (as if the car would miraculously stay clean if I had) - when I said “I did actually!”, he looked surprised! Call me strange, but I’ve never taken my car to be washed WHILE IT’S STILL CLEAN! I told him I was appalled and would take my business elsewhere. At a time when we’re all needing to watch our pennies and we’re impacted by local hosepipe bans, I find it disgusting that they’re trying to take even more money from us. Tesco, PLEASE give your car washing contract to a different company who deserve it. Waves are terrible and should be out of business.
