Terrible Customer service from manager -Greenwich Branch
My review is based strictly on the initial experience that myself and a friend encountered at Stick n Sushi in Greenwich yesterday afternoon. Myself and a friend went into sticks n sushi Greenwich wanting a walk in table. We waited patiently for several minutes at the front desk to enquire whether they could accommodate the two of us.The lady who I now know to be the manager on shift Jo (as she later advised me) asked if we had a booking,I replied no but asked if they had any availability to which she replied quite quickly and after a quick glance at the booking screen that they were fully booked all evening, although there were numerous tables visibly avaliable. We left, stood outside and booked a table via their website for 10 minutes later! Myself and my friend were in disbelief and astonished that we had been discriminated against(because why else would she lie)! my friend also called the branch whist standing outside and enquired if they had any tables available to who which the same manager (Jo) answered and confirmed that there were infact tables many tables available! Very funny as when we were in there it was made clear that they were “NO TABLES” available all evening! We went back inside 10 minutes later and gave the same manager our booking name and she didn’t bat an eyelid( because let’s face it all black women look the same) I mentioned how ironic it was that we had stood outside and managed to book a table less than 1 minute later via the website to which she replied quite abruptly that someone must have left the restaurant in that time. I felt quite insulted by her nonchalant response and asked for her name & if she was the manager to which she replied “ that she was the manager today” I then went on to inform her that her customer service was well below par and that I felt that due to being two black middle aged women she had unfairly racially discriminated against us! There was no response as expected as she wasn’t going to admit to racially profiling us. We were taken to our table surrounded by multiple empty tables and ordered our food which was nice. The other staff members (who from very diverse backgrounds and were all nice and polite). Due to our initial experience with the manager Jo, we have decided that will not be returning to the Greenwich branch again, it’s quite sad as I have patronised that branch on several occasions in the past without any issues. I would suggest that HR provides the manager Jo (who by the way was of Asian/chinese ethnicity) with further training in customer service and unconscious bias, it was very clear that has an issue with black customers and I actually feel sorry for other ethnic minority customers along with the staff that she manages when she is on shift.
