Economy Energy - My experience
Two months up front followed by a handful of months being overcharged to the tune of a 3 figure sum. Switch for a better deal and they continue to take money by DD after I have ceased being a customer even though I am massively in credit. Complaint results in zero action (other than automated email) after one week. Even get a letter complaining about me cancelling the DD so they can't go on swiping my money. Complain about that letter and get a repetition of that letter the same day. Best be one hell of a deal for anyone to consider this outfit. The Economy part of their name would appear to be all about the company's economy, not their customers. Oh, and an estimated 2 months possibly before I get my money refunded. Update 19/11/18: Now two months since the switch date and over a month since Jess' reply on behalf of Economy energy below. We did agree the amount owing to me and I was told four weeks ago that a cheque has been requested. Well it has still to arrive, despite a reminder three weeks ago. This company apparently cares more about their cash flow than customer satisfaction (financial controller's policy wins out over customer services or social media/PR). No reasons to change my star rating, if anything I'd like to make it less than 1 star but that doesn't appear to be an option. Looks like the only way I'm going to get my (several) hundreds back might be via the courts, always assuming they don't go bust beforehand. Update 07/01/19: Still cannot get through on the phone due to "technical difficulties" and neither can Citizens Advice who have tried to help but run up against the same impenetrable brick wall that I have. E-mails are ignored apart from generic "acknowledgement of receipt". Legal action precludes using the Ombudsman, so I have tried this route first. Seen anecdotal reports that this is the only thing Economy Energy take note of. Update 08/01/19: Gone bust - no surprise.
