My son and I recently completed our sessions on active listening, feelings, and empathy. I’m starting to see the impact of active listening and the importance of empathy. When my son experiences big feelings, I let him know, “I understand you feel ____ right now.” When I get it right, he would calm down, and if not, he’s able to share his true feelings. These parent-child sessions have been wonderful; not only is my son’s behavior improving, but my parenting skills are also getting refined. Our coach, Ms. Mon, is gentle and kind, making it easy to connect. Each session feels like catching up with an old friend, and the time always flies by!
