Hidden Service Charge and Rude Staff
I booked this restaurant for my family for my dad's birthday and he is undergoing chemotherapy for cancer. As he had a chemo session on 16th Feb I booked a table for afterwards to cheer him up. I put on the booking that it was my dad's birthday but nothing was said when we arrived. When I payed the bill for 4 people upfront I queried the amount charged as I was not given an itemised bill just the amount owing. I was taken aback to see I'd been charged a service charge before I'd even received any service! I was then told that this was optional but if you don't tell people about it how on earth is it optional? I asked for the charge to be removed as I completely disagree with the way it is hidden from customers. We were enjoying our meal but the dirty plates were stacking up on the table and no one was clearing them. We waited white a while and eventually I cleared the plates myself onto another table. A little while later a waitress came over to the table and said to me,quite aggressively, don't put the plates on another table, I will get to them. When I explained we had been sitting with dirty plates for quite a while and no one had been to clear them meaning we couldn't continue our meal she snapped that she was on a break. Without the benefit of being clairvoyant how on earth were we supposed to know? You have a time limit on your table anyway so are you supposed to sit at a table piled with dirty plates and not get anything else from the buffet? She then made a point of clearing the table, removing everyone's dirty plates except mine which she left. The experience really upset my dad on his birthday. When you are undergoing chemo the last thing you need is a surly and rude server. This lady has no place whatsoever in the hospitality industry and ruined what should have been a happy occasion. She was large build with tight clothing and dirty blonde hair so you are aware of who she is. I would like to add we came to this restaurant the week before and the waitress we had, young black, was an absolute delight and the polar opposite to the experience on the night in question.
