Visiting from Spain
Visiting from Spain, I'd booked a car with another car rental company, but didn't read in their terms and conditions that I needed an International Driving Permit because my license is in Spanish until a couple of weeks before arrival, too late to get one. So I started researching to see if I had any options and came across the Redspot blog post which talks about license requirements and getting foreign licenses translated. I phoned them to confirm that they would accept a translation and they said it was fine so I booked a car and cancelled my reservation with the other company. Redspot were excellent. When I collected the car, they halved the cost of adding an additional driver just to be nice, I didn't ask for this. There was no hard sell of additional insurance to cover CDW excess and they just seemed keen on making the whole rental process a pleasant experience. The car was great, almost brand new, and the total price was less than the car I first booked with the other company. Fantastic! Their service was an example of what renting a car should be like, but so often isn't.
