My first time--overall positive.
My first time. Usually stay at Portofino in Pensacola but thought Orange Beach might be more child-friendly which proved true 1) The suite overall was great with a lovely view, comfortable furniture and beds, etc.. Kitchen has all of the hardware. Doesn't have things like coffee filters or salt & pepper or dish detergent. Found the back two bedrooms a bit weird in that they only have one window that opens into the lobby area so you can't really ever have daylight. But since we didn't spend much time beyond sleeping not that big of a deal. Also, meant very dark so easy to sleep late if that's your thing. Master Bedroom had a wall of windows that looked into the dining room so needed shades drawn--but could technically keep those open and the exterior ones open and look out into the water. Just FYI on the general design. 2) With kids having the lazy river and several other pools (including indoor if it rains) was GREAT! They loved all of that. And the beach is right there so easy to access. 3) Beach in front of hotel was quite crowded (which was fine since we had kids, but childfree folks might want to mosey farther down). You can rent umbrellas, but the nicer ones allow folks to set up in front of you so you can't really see the water. Other side has less nice set up but no one in front. Not sure of the thinking there. Felt like they charged a rather exorbitant cleaning fee since they expect you to have basically cleaned beyond bedding and towels. We had no issues with the elevators. Will definitely stay again with the kids. Without kids, would do Portofino.
