Entered wrong registration in an NCP car park…
I recently parked in an NCP car park and paid £4.95 by phone. Unfortunately I was driving my wife's car but entered my own cars registration number. Approx. 2 weeks later my wife received a parking fine. When I realised what had happened I appealed the fine by filling in the online form. The reply was sent roughly 1 week after stating that the appeal had not been upheld, but as a goodwill gesture the penalty charge was reduced to £20. As this was a totally innocent mistake on my part, I feel that the goodwill gesture should only have been a full days charge £4.95. So now it means that not only have I paid the £20, but in addition I have also paid £4.95 to NCP. When paying for parking you are required to enter the registration of the vehicle, so I would assume that the records should reflect the registration number you entered against the debited amount. CCTV recording of the date in question should easily show no car with that registration in the car park. I also note that under NCP parking terms and conditions, should your vehicle be damaged or any of your goods stolen whilst in an NCP carpark, NCP will accept no liability for the incident. This leads me to conclude that NCP cares nothing for its customers / patrons, but only for the monetary return to NCP.
