AVOID THEIR CONVEYANCING DEPARTMENT
Used Mary Monson Manchester office for conveyancing on flat purchase. The whole process from start to finish was an absolute nightmare. We had first warning signs when we posted signed paperwork and they claimed they've not received it. Luckily it was sent via recorded delivery so we had proof someone signed for it within the organisation so they actually had to talk to each other and locate the missing post (this happened on two occasions btw). The solicitor who dealt with our purchase did not keep us updated at all and we always had to phone and chase for information. We were at the bottom of a long chain so it took quite a long time to exchange and the solicitor hasn't phoned or emailed even once to provide an update, if we didn't chase we probably would've gone through the whole 6 months without hearing anything until we were ready to exchange. After the completion we moved to our new home, months went by and we've not heard anything from our solicitor. Around 4 months after completion we received a letter from the mortgage provider stating our mortgage hasn't yet been registered with land registry. Phoned the solicitor to find out what's going to and was told that lady dealing with our case no longer worked there. From then on it took multiple phone calls to the solicitor and building management company to assure they were communicating with each other as supposedly some documents were still missing. 2.5 months further down the line and 6.5 months from completion I was finally told today that the land registry is finally completed and documents will be posted to me today. Of course, in order to find this out I had to phone them up three times in as many days, 1st 2 times I was told someone would call me back but of course no one did, when I finally called again today I was yet again told someone will phone back but I refused to get of the phone. I am now hoping that today was the last time I had to speak to them and the land registry will arrive in the post at some point next week. I guess I'll find out soon enough...
