So we were planning a break in France. We booked a hotel as the complicated itenerary involved a late ferry and the onward connection would involve an overnight stay. Then the owner of the property we were booked in changed the start date. So we rebooked the expensive ferry crossings. No problem. The single night in the ibis hotel in France the website said was at the discretion of the hotel. The ibis hotel decided they couldn’t or wouldn’t refund a penny. Totally unhelpful. This is what a bad company looks like. We asked if we could perhaps at least leave our bags there as we had paid for a night and they were refusing to refund. They said ok. We turn up and honestly they couldn’t have been less helpful, less accommodating. The receptionist basically kicked us out of the waiting area after about 10mins because she wanted to go out and then started making nasty comments to her colleagues about us assuming we couldn’t understand. They clearly dislike their guests and were saying similar about others in reception. Avoid this hotel chain at all costs.
