£145 per adult a month!
Member on and off for years. Tried to join today using a Vitality discount as we have always used before and they upped the base membership to £145 (not what's advertised on their website where it says £120) and tried to force a decision today regardless of the fact their offer runs until end of Feb. Hard to make a decisionw hent he information is all over the place. The salesman stated that "The no activation fee will possibly run until the end of the month but I just can't guarantee it as this is something that is assessed daily by vitality themselves" which Vitality assures me is incorrect information (read: a lie). It feels very much like dealing with used car salesmen who just want the sale. Having been a member in the past, I can assure you it's not worth £145 a month either. There's nothing special about it over any other gym that warrants this massive price tag as it's getting quite worn now (highest one outside London I'd guess) Unfortunately it's the only gym in the area with a pool which is why they think they can command those prices but luckily, there's a great, modern council gym and pool so we'll be going back to there instead. It's a shame that after using that particular gym on and off for 20 years (we've seen it go through several changes of ownership) they don't see any benefit in customer loyalty and just see pound signs. We were going to give them another try after disappointing customer service during lockdown but I can see we were right to move away from them back then. Edit: They have since responded saying that the £145 is a pricce only for AXA/Vitality members. Their T's&c's differ and at time of writing they say: 3.9 Vitality/AXA Membership – this agreement is with you only and you have a Vitality/AXA membership that has ‘gym membership’ as one of its benefits. You will receive a discount off our full individual standard monthly membership (see. 6.3.1). They have said that the £145 is a Premier Plus membership and no standard so they are not following their own terms and conditions. I've sent this to them as it's misleading and false advertising and their T's&C's need to be altered. Edit again: Their response is that "In this case or these terms relate to our premier plus as full membership" Wonder what the 'standard' refers to. Eitehr way, I wouldn't go near this club again. It feels quite underhand and deceptive to me now.
