I had the worst experience trying to hire a combination ladder from HSS ProService. It's been an absolute joke. I needed to hire a combination ladder to paint the stairwell. I phoned HSS Proservice to confirm the correct item I needed to hire. I managed to speak to somebody at that time. He promised to email some details, but no email arrived. I had a short window of time available to do the job, so I went ahead and booked a ladder online. When it was delivered, it was far too big for the job. I needed to reach a height of 3 meters. I didn't realise the ladder sections were 3 meters. The horizontal ground bar was too wide to fit into my stairwell, so I had to return it unused on the same delivery vehicle. I tried to phone HSS at least six times to discuss and rearrange, but I couldn't get through because I was stuck in a phone queue for extended periods. On the seventh occasion, I managed to get through and spoke briefly to someone who put the phone down on me, and I was stuck back in the queue. I phoned the local HSS depot, who told me they could do nothing because I had rented the ladder online, and they had no authority with online contracts. I have had to find an alternative way to do the job, and now I no longer need the ladder. I tried to communicate with them via their online chat service, but it appears to be unmanned. I have received no communication from HSS Pro Service regarding the return of my deposit, so I have wasted £124.98. It's infuriating because I'm unable to speak with anyone to sort it out.
