Some solicitors are great
My solicitor was very helpful and patient with me as I hadn’t bought a property for a very long time. It was frustrating that she went on holiday just before my completion and the person she asked to look after my account did absolutely nothing which massively increased my stress levels as I didn’t think I would be able to complete on time and all the services I had put in place would have been a pain and expensive to change. This person, who never put their name on their emails, just kept writing that they would pass my case for their manager to review - which was so unhelpful. Luckily my solicitor pulled out all the stops to make sure completion happened on the scheduled date. The sellers solicitor did take 5.5 hours to confirm they had received the money which then held up the releasing of the keys and lost me a day of getting my possessions into my new house which was not ideal. My solicitor continued trying to contact them and eventually confirmed the keys could be released at 4pm. Overall it was a fair bit more stressful than it needed to be.
