Total waste of money and 6 months of my life …

I initially contacted Chrysalis to look into continuing my counselling training. I completed a level 2 certification at Halesowen college in 2019, my objective was to become a qualified counsellor, I’ve ended up wasting 6 months of my time studying hypnotherapy. I feel that I was sold the concept and benefit of doing this as it was advertised as the ‘recommended’ course, being the most cost affective way of getting to my end goal. They have used this as a carrot to entice students to do the hypnotherapy content. Why? Why not do a level 3 in counselling? I’ve asked the question but I’m still not satisfied with the answer they gave me. I pulled out a month of ago and have been left over £1400 out of pocket with nothing to show for it other than a very basic knowledge of a skill I will never use. It beggars belief that they are expecting people to learn a skill with the underpinning principle being belief and conviction when they don’t understand why they are there in the first place, how can that be believable?! The course content is delivered in an illogical way, I’m a practicing holistic therapist so I have a working knowledge of consultation processes, it does not flow well at all. There is little very little content on counselling, I don’t think this attempted blend works as it should be treated as two separate subjects. I’d be interested to know how many of my fellow students complete this course, many of whom have no knowledge of counselling or therapeutic work and are quite frankly lambs to the slaughter. I have contacted the National Hypnotherapy Association, asking them to investigate why a company is coercing students to study a practice they have no interest in as I’m sure this won’t do much for the credibility of the profession. They have refunded my membership fee, which says a lot to me! I have asked for my course fee money back. I’ll be patient.
