Suitable for Private Sellers? A conflict of Interest?
I advertised 2 cars this year as a private seller. Not one genuine enquiry. One of the cars is one of the most popular models in the most popular colour and at a very competitive price. (A few fake enquiries about distance princes who work on a oil rig buying a car for their granny's 21st but nothing genuine. ) However a few dealers enquired offering low ball amounts. There seems to be a conflict of interest here for the site. Most of their business comes from dealers and indeed they display the SIMI logo. It's clearly not in the interest of the dealers for people to succeed in selling their cars privately. It cuts them out. I am sceptical therefore that this is a good platform for Private Sellers. There is no reason not to buy a car from another private individual. Just run the AA checks etc.
