Poor experience with house sale
I don't usually write reviews, but unfortunately we had various issues with Jacksons throughout the whole house sale process that it's important to share: 1) Initially received a letter that a specific couple were interested in the house; this never came to fruition and was just to get themselves through the door; 2) House was initially valued extremely unrealistically, again, to try to lure clients in; bear this in mind if you get given a high valuation from Jacksons Streatham - within a week they recommended reducing the price by 9% just prior to going live, and 2 weeks after that they tried to get us to reduce a further 7%. Once we had a sale agreed (which was actually above the price they were trying to reduce it to for a quick sale), they refused to mark the property as 'sold' on Rightmove, instead, they increased the price on Rightmove so that when they take their marketing brochures to new potential clients, they can pretend they got a higher price for the property than they did; 3) I was in for one of the viewings and the agent did not give the potential buyer any information about the house except 'this is the kitchen, this is the bathroom' - we had given Jacksons a lot of information about the property, including the architectural designs for potential loft conversion which we left on display - the agent didn't even mention this key information (or any other information) to the viewer. On another viewing, I heard a different agent telling the potential buyer that the house had planning permission to go into the loft (this was false information - we had only ever told Jacksons that it had architectural designs, so they send misleading messages to potential buyers); 4) No 'for sale' board was ever put up outside the house - only a 'sold' sign once it was sold; 5) Jacksons Streatham had one of our keys to let buyers in, but on 2 occasions they didn't have the key and required us to be home because it wasn't appropriately kept in the office (apparently was in another agents car) - we were concerned the key had been lost; 6) Our photos were rather poor. Additionally, we have a very new and modern bathroom which is a great selling point on the property - we were told that we couldn't have a bathroom photo on our ad as that's Jacksons policy - I've subsequently seen various other Jacksons ads that do indeed have a bathroom photo (clearly they didn't want to pay for photos to be redone when the bathroom had been missed); 7) When we got an offer on the property, I responded on a phone call with a higher counter offer. Jacksons were pushing back saying not to do this and to accept the offer, however, I said no we would like to put forward the counter offer which my husband and I had agreed. Moments later Jacksons called my husband rather than the buyer, undermining me, trying to get him to accept the offer. Of course, my husband had the same view as me and the agent had to put forward our counter, which actually got accepted. 8) When discussing all my issues with a friend, I found out that they were also having significant issues with Jacksons and were thinking about taking legal action - so seems to be a common theme...
