Don't waste your time

My experience with Tokio Marine's International Assistance in Japan was honestly awful. They promise to find clinics and make appointments for you, but they instead asked me to find a local clinic, make the appointment myself, and then also pay the bill because the clinic didn't accept direct payment from the company (but there's no attempt on their end to find a different clinic). This is all despite the fact that the whole point of this insurance is they do this for you. I then tried to file a claim to get my money back, but their claim process is so unnecessarily complex that I have no choice but to think they want me to give up on filing a claim altogether. I don't understand how I'm the customer paying money for a plan when I'm being made to fill out pages upon pages of paperwork where I'm repeating information I already told them over the phone. It just seems lazy on their end. If you're a total foreigner in Japan there's no way you'd be able to finish the process to claim, so they really shouldn't be advertising as a foreigner-friendly insurance. I'd recommend using another company if you don't want to feel like you're doing their jobs for them.
