A stressful uphill battle from beginning to end
Became aware of Wessex internet back in September when all the roads around us being dug and more people being connected so we registered an interest. Never heard anything spoke to them again said it was in hand and again nothing. Whilst out gardening saw Robin and asked him what was going on. Upon looking at his maps said our house wasn’t on their map (amazing as we are on the end of a terrace since 1903). Having got this sorted said we couldn’t be connected under the road it would have to come off a pole which needed Wessex Internet to get permission to use. Installation promised mid December nothing phoned them to be told they needed a MUPE and they’d not booked one. Promised would definitely go ahead at beginning of January without fail yet again no one turned up phoned again this time MUPE had broken down. Promised again would happen the following week this time engineers turned up but couldn’t do it again as they didn’t know the needed to get a permit to close the road unbelievable as they’d been out to survey in December. Promised again a fortnight later and finally installation occurred with the engineer turning up the following day hooray ! We signed up for package which entitled us to 2 pucks which we knew we would need as we live in an old property with thick stone walls. Engineer didn’t bring these were told we need to prove how bad the signal was before they would send them out but could only request one at a time and this would cost us £10 for each one for p & p. When Sky did this for us before the engineer brought them with him and installed them foc. Consequently it took another 2 weeks before our house had full internet coverage. Not good! We were offered 2 months free as a sign of goodwill which we thanked them for only to be billed for the 2 months then took a few e mails before they sorted this out! Not an auspicious start! We were then contacted by Freddie who asked if we could help them by using part of our property to enable easy connection for one of the barns behind us appointment arranged for 10 am today funny old thing nobody turned up and nobody called to let us know they weren’t going to turn up. Phoned to ask why this had happened and in the light of this told them not to bother as we were no longer prepared to help them sort out a tricky installation for someone else . The whole of our experience with Wessex Internet has been an uphill and stressful experience from beginning to end! The only good thing is to say that their telephone operatives are polite and helpful!
