Disappointing DUBROVNIK Hotel…
Just back from DUBROVNIK with the Travel Department. I have travelled with them before and was very satisfied. This holiday, in September 2024, was disappointing. The booking, Travel, Guide and transfers were all good. It was the hotel Sunny Club, Valamer, that disappointed us. The staff, with the exception of one girl at reception, are , unsmiling, grumpy and not in any way welcoming. The hotel is too far out of the city. There is a public bus, which takes 15 minutes to get to the City walls. Its very crowded. Graded a 3 Star, we would not agree. Our room was very small,and smelled. We were given a room that was effectively at basement level,which was in the dark at all times. The bathroom was seriously in need of a refurbishment, and was not suitable for anyone with mobility issues. It had a high, half bath with a shower in it and was incredibly awkward to access. The housekeeping was poor, not one surface in our room was wiped during our stay. Luckily I had cleaning wipes. The buffet food was hit and miss. There was no water available at dinner. You had to buy bottled water. There was no tea or coffee either and you had to buy that as well. There are no comfortable chairs in this hotel. All plastic. There was no kettle in the bedroom. The tours were good and our guide Enis , very knowledgeable. The pool area is lovely, with a great view, and the poolside food is good. Definitely not the usual standard of hotel though, that I have come to expect from Travel Department.
