Bait & Switch Fraud
Bait & Switch Fraud - On 9/25 we paid a travel agency partner of Hawaiian Airlines called Mytrip for airline tickets ( Seattle to Maui and Maui to San Francisco) We paid extra for the ability to choose our seating on the flights so that we could a) guarantee that we could sit together and b) guarantee that we would not be bumped off the flight . We received confirmation in writing that seats 15J and 15H were booked for both flights. A couple of days later we received the following from Mytrip for both of these flights " Due to a technical error we are unable to complete your purchase for SEAT for your out bound flight.In order for you to complete your request you need to book your SEAT directly with the airline through their website.The money will be refunded to the original form of payment.. We contacted Hawaiian Airlines asking them to allow us to book the allocated seats and they refused. Their response was " Please be advised that the ticket you have purchased through our respective travel agency partner is highly restrictive. Part of the restrictions are receiving the seat assignment during check in time/24 hours prior to departure and upgrade is not permitted. Regretfully, we're unable to grant your request." This restriction was not made clear at the point of purchase. We have requested a refund of the tickets from Mytrip but they have refused saying that Hawaiian Airlines have our money. Hawaiian Airline have also refused to refund. We would not have booked these tickets if we had been aware of the restrictions and it is clear the company, Mytrip, concealed this by offering the option to allocate seats at the point of booking . This is a clear "bait and switch" scam that Hawaiian Airlines apparently condone and are complicit with.. We now face the likelihood that,if we keep the tickets, we will not be able to sit together on either flight ( 11.5 hours in total )
