Warning when you leave Economy Energy When you leave Economy Energy they do not automaticallly pay back any overpayment they have taken in direct debits, you have to claim it back. This is surely criminal, all energy companies should pay overpayments back automatically, the energy regulator needs to look at their practices. I have been chasing them for 11 weeks for a refund, and they are just stalling and delaying. Yesterday I got a letter from their Credit Control Department demanding £8.37 which a September bill shows I have underpaid for gas and threatening to pass it onto a debt collection agency. This is despite my latest bill (October) showing that they owe me £131 .......... this is very worrying and must be criminal. Your operatives lied to me on webchat for weeks saying you did not have my final meter readings so could not prepare my final bills, when the truth is they were sent to you within two weeks of the swap.
