Avoid - terrible customer service!!
I’ve done 4 trips with intrepid so far. Only one to Morocco in 2019 was amazing. I had accidentally booked a “comfort” trip then, and because it was awesome, I decided to only book their premium trips for better accommodations and guides going forward. Even before the trip, customer service was pretty much non-existent when I asked questions about the itinerary and ballon ride. The local team sucked and provided incorrect info. Just got back from a premium trip to turkey - guide was horrible! He completely catered to half the group, English wasn’t good, historical info was disorganized, and didn’t take feedback well. Proceeded to yell at me for asking for an extra 5 min to take pics (I was in tears, and I don’t cry easily). His local boss from the operations team was supposed to call me and said he would, but never did. Itinerary was so rushed without any downtime at all. The hotel used in Istanbul was terrible - ac didn’t work and had to move rooms. Elevators broken each day we were there. I trusted my gut and did my own research about the balloon company they used. They had bad reviews, so I booked on my own with another company. Heard from other members of the group that their experience via the vetted company was terrible and they missed sunset! I left a detailed review of everything from my trip, and of course no one from intrepid has even reached out to me. This trip was so stressful and crazy that I needed a vacation from this trip and came back more exhausted and stressed out than when I left!! Terrible company, their prices have gotten completely ridiculous, and they don’t care whatsoever about negative feedback. Will def not be booking any intrepid trips in the future. I have also described my experience in all of the travel groups I belong to. Avoid at all costs! So not worth it! So sad I wasted money on this trip
