My favorite company of all the online workouts available.
I got a subscription with this company when my gym closed for the pandemic. Since then, I have renewed my membership every year. I love the variety of classes (both strength-training and cardio) and the variety of difficulty levels, so on days when I don't feel like lifting anything super heavy I can do a pilates workout or use resistance bands or body weight. The instructors always show you how to modify the exercises if you need a lighter workout, and they repeatedly make you feel good about your choices by saying "there's no shame in the modification game!" Chris Freytag is my favorite instructor -- she's around my age and her enthusiasm and sheer joy make me want to exercise with her. I especially love the walking workouts, so you can exercise and get "miles" on your pedometer just by marching in place and doing some simple calisthenics. It sounds boring but the walking workouts are so much fun! And they burn a surprising amount of calories. You don't need a lot of equipment to do the workouts, but the class description shows you what you need. Most strength classes use either resistance bands/tube or dumbbells, and the instructors will give you a range of weight amounts you might want to use. I keep track of my workouts and write down the weight amounts so I can see my strength gains. My experience with working out goes back to Jane Fonda in the 80s, and I have experimented with Les Mills online, Tae Bo, Beach Body, Zumba, and the instructor-led classes at my gym, and honestly I prefer the workouts on GHUTV. I think it's the workouts themselves that are more fun and less boring and repetitive than Les Mills classes, but also the instructors actually inspire me. Every time I hear Sam Cam telling the camera "Yes you can," I am that much more inspired. I used to love Billy Banks and Tae Bo, but I think these classes have the same kind of spirit and high energy. I would definitely recommend them for beginners and advanced exercisers and everybody in between. One note about the complaints people have with cancellations -- it is actually very easy to cancel the "auto renew" feature on the site. You just click the auto renewal off. I usually do this right away, and then I will call customer service if I want to renew at the end of the trial period. It's really NOT hard if you pay attention -- and you can always access your subscription renewal date on the main website, so there's no reason a renewal should surprise anybody.
