Japan Crate

Do Not Waste Your Money, Please.
I originally was subscribed to Doki Doki Crate, a sister crate to Japan Crate. I decided (stupidly) to give Japan Crate a try during the pandemic because we're still currently stuck in our home with nowhere to go. Ordered in late June, the first box took ages to get here from the date they claimed the item was shipped. I had to hound DHL (the service they use) multiple times to track down my package because JC's customer service was practically non-existent and the ONE reply I received was extremely rude and dismissive. Had I not done all the legwork tracing it down via DHL, the package would have been lost. Que to August/Sept. crate. 6th Year Anniversary Crate. JC decided to randomly expedite the shipping to SOME customers while not informing the rest of us that they'd be doing this, so some people got their boxes in amazingly fast time (in the middle of August). Meanwhile, people like myself were left in the dark and had to hound customer service to get an estimated date on shipping for a box they'd already taken money out for in the middle of August. Apparently, they had already shipped out my box and just not bothered to inform me or give me any tracking information. By the time I received tracking confirmation, the box had come the next day. Then let's add to the fact that the value of the items in the box DOES NOT equal $35 dollar's worth of "premium" product. More than half the box is "dagashi", which are cheap yen candies you buy in any old store in Japan. Very few of the "premium" products are full sized and even the "premium" products in Japan are not marked up that much. I understand needing to make a profit for shipping out boxes, but a.) they are way over-pricing their premium products and b.) they charge you $35 + $10 extra for shipping, the shipping company they use (DHL) is extremely hit or miss and I have had nothing but terrible luck getting ANY of my packages from them. Customers are not getting their money's worth in the boxes, even without the added shipping charges (which I understand) and c.) the "premium" products in the box (when they give you a decent amount) don't add up to NEARLY the cost of what they are charging you (which does not include shipping, because that's an extra 10 USD). Overall, I gave it a shot for two months and their customer service was abysmal, their shipping company is a crapshoot if you live in the US and you'd be lucky to get your money's worth in ANY of the boxes. Pretty damn disappointed, honestly.
