Stay away from this car rental!
We booked a car four weeks in advance for pickup in Larnaka International Airport. When we landed at the airport where we were supposed to be picked up, No one was waiting for us. After waiting for 30 minutes we called Autounion. Turns out that because the pickup time was set to 14:00 while the flight-No we had specified was arriving at 14:30 they had decided to do nothing(!?). Well, a friendly lady came shortly after and picked us up. The misunderstanding cost us approx. an hour but never mind. We got the car and drove for 20 Minutes when it started over-heating. We stopped to let the car cool and called Autounion. They suggested us to drive back for a replacement of the car. When we got back with the car - all in all spending another hour - Letting the car cool and driving back, no mangers was on-site so instead a mechanic tried to sort it out. Eventually he handed me a phone were we got the news; The lady in the phone told us that unfortunately they did not have another car but the good news was that they would refund us the FULL amount! - we should not pay a dime for the whole ordeal AND they would even drive us back to the starting point; the airport free of charge!! (Yes. She tried to make it sound like an excellent compensation) At this point I was less than impressed by autoUnion. I told her we would expect them to provide us with a car from one of the other vendors at their expense or at least provide some kind of real compensation, since we would now have to book at a different company with short notice. She told me the compensation was the full refund. So after spending 3 hours on this hopeless car-rental we were back at square one and booked a car at Hertz instead. Yes it was more expensive (the difference would actually not have been so bad if we had booked Hertz from the start), but the staff was top professional and the car worked like a charm. TL;DR stay away from this car rental!
