Horrible Experience with eSky Travel – Avoid at All Costs
If we could give zero or even negative stars, we would. Our experience with eSky Travel was nothing short of a nightmare and almost ruined our honeymoon. We booked a round-trip flight from Recife to Fernando de Noronha with eSky back in April 2024. The flights were scheduled for early January 2025. Everything seemed fine until a week before departure, when the pousada (hotel) in Fernando de Noronha asked for our flight details for airport pickup. That’s when the nightmare began. The pousada informed us that the airline we were booked with hadn’t operated flights to the island in a long time. Alarmed, we immediately contacted eSky to clarify. Their response? The same copy-paste reply every time: “Check your booking on the airline’s website”. And indeed, the airline website still showed our reservation as “confirmed”, which only added to the confusion. However, the lack of available information online about this flight made us suspicious. Despite our repeated attempts to flag this issue with eSky, their agents failed to take our concerns seriously. Every time, we were met with the same robotic response. It felt like no one at eSky actually cared to investigate or resolve the issue. Instead, they relied on a faulty booking status and brushed us off repeatedly. Finally, when we arrived at the airport, it was confirmed that the flights had been canceled back in May 2024! The airline claimed they had informed eSky of the cancellation months earlier, yet eSky did nothing to notify us. Their lack of professionalism and communication was shocking. As a result, we were forced to rebook new last-minute flights to Fernando de Noronha and back to Europe, incurring costs of more than EUR 5'000. This included new flights, an extra night in Recife, additional accommodations on the island, food, and other expenses due to the limited availability of return flights. After 10 days of frustrating back-and-forth communication – during which it always took at least 24 hours for the agent to reply (and even then, it was usually a standard, unhelpful response claiming they were "looking into it" without actually doing anything) – eSky finally confirmed a partial refund for the original flights only. To make matters worse, their so-called 24-hour phone line was mostly unreachable, leaving us with no real way to escalate the issue. In the end, they refunded only about 90% of what we paid for the original flights. Their excuse? Some of the fees, such as service charges or additional services, were "non-refundable". This is absolutely ridiculous. Given their gross negligence, repeated failures to address the situation, and their complete lack of transparency, withholding any portion of the refund is unacceptable and insulting. eSky’s complete incompetence caused us immense stress, ruined part of our honeymoon, and left us with a MASSIVE financial burden. Their refusal to take responsibility or provide proper support is appalling. Save yourself the trouble, money, and frustration – DO NOT BOOK with eSky. They are unreliable, unprofessional, and their customer service is nothing short of a disgrace.
