Anglian Water

Lack of preventative maintenance
We have experienced problems with our drain/sewer pipe blocking where it joins the main sewer. We have a shared pipe with next door's system feeding into ours. We have experienced this for many years and have had to call out Anglian Water on numerous occasions sometimes within an interval of only a few months. The problem has worsened as we now have a family with a small baby next door whereas previously it was an old lady on her own. A couple of years ago we were told that the issue is with something called an interceptor. Apparently these were fitted in Victorian times to prevent gases etc coming back into the property and are now obsolete. I was told many months ago that Anglian Water would remove this to fix the problem and stop the continuous inconvenience of blocked drains and many repeat visits to unblock them. Despite being given repeated assurances that this is about to happen, including a job number and actual deadline which, has now passed... nothing. On yet another callout to unblock today the very nice man informed me that Anglian Water don't intend doing anything. Why? Not only will it stop our inconvenience but will save money on call-outs. Apart from anything else I thought that precedence was given to households where a small child is present.
