When your flight is cancelled, you have no recourse. Lesson: Book Direct!

Hong Kong Air cancelled my flight from Hong Kong to Hanoi. Most flights on this airline have been cancelled due to the Coronavirus. This is not Travelocity’s fault. However, the poor quality of their service is unforgivable. I have now called many times with the same reasonable request: “refund my money since the airline cancelled my reservation.” If I had booked direct with the airline, I would have been able to apply for my refund on their website. Since I did not, I had to go to Travelocity. I have waiting in long queues for service, have been cut off several times, and cannot understand the operators. They promised that they would take all of my information and get back to me in 48 hours about my refund. They did not. I called again using the call back service on their website. I did get a call back, but the operator obviously had no record of my previous calls. When she put me on hold to check with the airline, I was cut off. I guess the morale of this story is you are far better off to book with the airline directly or work with a licensed, skilled travel consultant. This is the last time I will book through Travelocity!
