I absolutely loved this trip to Antarctica
I absolutely loved this trip. It was very expensive but once we were on the expedition ship you could see why. Everything was just brilliantly organised; the food was excellent, the drinks were a fair price, the whole crew were exceptional, friendly and always there with a smile and happy to chat. The twice-daily excursions were always very well organised, and the crew who took us on them were knowledgeable, friendly and professional. Our beds were turned down every night, it was all just so comfortable. I met so many lovely people and there were a lot of us solo travellers. On a slightly negative side, the Ocean Endeavour's decor is still in the 80s and very much needs updating. The evening entertainment wasn't great on some nights, a couple of evenings there was absolutely nothing to do and I had to ask for music one evening just to try and liven the lounge room up. Other evenings - especially the indoor live music and outside barbecue with DJ - were fantastic. In my 'port hole' cabin the port hole (window) was sealed shut with a metal cover during the two trips along the Drake Passage meaning we had no natural light and had no outside view for four of the eight days at sea. I would've appreciated being advised of this beforehand in order to have a choice of another cabin where there was a window to see the wonderful views during the entire journey. The onboard wi-fi (in this day and age) was charged at an unnecessary extortionate price, and I know it's free on other Antarctica ships. But all-in-all I can't believe I finally made it to Antarctica. It was as wonderful as I imagined it would be, and quite a few of us wished we could've stayed there longer.
