FRAUDULENT AND UNPROFESSIONAL

This is in regards to your Warwick, RI location.  Appointment was today, January 9th with Dr. Miranda Icart.  Please don’t bother sending your computer generated response that you value customer service… your verbatim responses to all of your negative reviews truly speak to the kind of company you are. I have your “wecare@“ email address and I will make an attempt to contact you there, but I do not anticipate a human response. I reached out in July to schedule an appointment in RI for an ADHD evaluation.  Had my first virtual visit in September, and could not get the psychological test scheduled until December.  I was contacted in October to change my appointment, and they moved me to another day in December. I used PTO and took the day (Dec 16th) out of work, only to get a call just 40 mins prior to my appointment to cancel because the doctor was no longer available. Already terrible business practice. They rescheduled me to January 9th.  I received a call on Dec 30th confirming my appointment and reminding me of my $20 copay due at time of visit.  I arrived to my appointment and paid the $20 upon checkin. An hour into my testing, the “receptionist” who checked me in, knocked on the door to interrupt the test and tell the doctor that they didn’t realize I owe more money, so they had to stop the test until they discussed the new amount due with me.  I left the room and went to the desk and was told that because I canceled my original appointment in December, my deductible reset Jan 1st, so I owed $1020! I told them I would have never agreed to the test, had I been informed appropriately of this cost in advance. Immediately I knew this was ridiculous because I never even met my deductible in 2024 - so the excuse was a lie- and I was told by LifeStance from the first July call that my insurance would be accepted and the provider was in-network. Not to mention- THEY CANCELED ON ME, I DID NOT CANCEL THEM.  Additionally, they called me 10 days prior reconfirming the $20 copay. No mention of any additional fees.  They let me continue my test and said they would figure it out, and after my test as I was leaving told me that I need to contact my insurance company and give them all 15 CPT codes to see what they cover… THIS IS THEIR JOB!  I asked for them to call but they refused and proceeded to give me a Testing Verification and Estimate form- which is clearly something I should have received prior to my appointment.  Then, during my appointment, they emailed me a financial agreement to sign which I should have received weeks or months prior, which I would be a fool to sign now. Now, after multiple calls to my Insurance company, I’m told that these tests needed prior authorization, and LifeStance is required to obtain that before any tests or evals are done. They gave me the tests without any authorization and then handed me a bill to figure out what me and my insurance company was going to cover. This is violation #1. I have never encountered such a HORRIBLE and UNPROFESSIONAL experience within the medical industry.  Violation #2 is the No Surprise Act and I will be filing a claim against Lifestance if they make any attempt to collect this money. Not to mention, I will be sure to include this information on all review platforms that exist- which again, really speak to the nature of your fraudulent company.  Once again, I’m sure I’ll get an auto-response, but if they are as dedicated to customer service as they speak here in all of their replies, they will easily find out who I am and contact me directly to resolve this. Oh, and all of their reviews above 2 stars are from their corporate marketing team’s fake accounts. It’s completely obvious when you read them… Their investors should be embarrassed about who they employ on all levels.
