For the sake of £500 Kia have lost £20000. A true shame after buying such a lovely little car.

A true shame after such an excellent product. I purchased a Picanto in 2018 as a bit of a stop gap. Something cheap and cheerful while I saved for something better. And I absolutely love the thing and plan on keeping it until it falls apart and having a second car later on. However I recently had an issue with it dropping a cylinder every now and again. Apparently water has got in the engine and corroded 4 spark plugs and 3 coil packs. According to kia this is my doing. The first question I was asked was if I had ever taken the car to the cleaners on the side of the road. This is insulting to me AND to them because they aren't stupid enough to start spraying under people's bonnets and 1, I'm not that stupid either and 2, I have always cleaned my own car. I was then told that water getting into the engine is not covered under warranty and it must be something I have done because they haven't had that issue with other engines of its type. So what they are saying is, if there is fault on one of their cars it must be on every single vehicle of that type. It is insulting and disgusting. You don't buy a Kia for the badge or the prestige or performance or the luxury, you buy a Kia because of the fantastic warranty. It turns out, however that it isn't worth the paper it is written on. Turns out they are cheap for a reason. Not the reasons I thought though, it truly is an excellent little car. Too good to be true. I will never purchase another one after this experience. For the sake of the £500 (or probably less for them, that is the retail price) it would have cost them they have lost the £20000 I would have spent on a Cee'd GT.
