Watch out when taxing your car online:
DVLA should Disassociate themselves with ‘Vehicleinformation.uk’. But I don’t know which is worse ! I bought an electric car based on all the Planet Saving information the UK government was dishing out over the past 3-4 years, and of course the incentive of exemption from Vehicle Road Tax ! But then I received a V11 vehicle road Tax reminder from DVLA telling me that I had to fill in the tax form online, even though it was Zero cost, so I went on their website to do so and after filling in all the personal information, including Bank Details, I thought that was it, (until the new EV road tax rules come into force in April 2025 !) But then I noticed that one strange payment was taken from my bank account of 50p and then another for £7.50 per month ! I did some checking and found out it was taken by this company, briefly mentioned on the DVLA website, which I had unknowingly been signed up for and had absolutely no intention of signing up to ! (Vehicleinformation.uk) I have seen many complaints online about this deceiving trick and the response from the company is basically… ‘well it’s easy to cancel your subscription’ which is not, for anyone not used to Internet stuff ! You have to go through the website pages to find the Cancel option, and by the way, they’ve already got your payment ! I can’t understand the people online who are reacting to the complaints and basically saying “it’s your own fault if you sign up” (Wrong ! ) Companies should ‘not’ take advantage of vulnerable people, or people who are ‘online novices’ My advice- Watch out if and when you have to fill in any forms on the DVLA website ! even if your a ‘Small-print’ reader !
