Damage&dirty brand new car
In March we purchased a new car from Donalds Kia Bury St Edmunds. Upon collection of the vehicle on the 6th March and inspecting the car we identified a couple of small areas of exterior damage, the salesman argued it was polish marks but upon wiping it could not be removed. Another colleague came out to inspect the area (assume was the dealership manager), who agreed it was damage. We eventually agreed to accept the car on the proviso that the dealership would make good the damage. Our understanding is that they’d organise for a company (Trimline) to attend our property shortly afterwards to rectify the damage. It has since been five weeks and yet we do not have an appointment scheduled. Over the last 5 weeks I have followed up multiple times with the Kia dealership, being promised two weeks ago that we’d receive a call “tomorrow” we did not get. On the 21st March we requested and was told that our complaint has been escalated to the dealership manager so it can be resolved, however up until this date we have not been contacted by them, so can assume it is yet to be done. We have now been given Trimline’s number to follow up directly with them, but this shouldn’t be our responsibility to do this. Had we known that the dealership would have washed their hands of this matter as soon as we had taken the car from the forecourt, we wouldn’t have accepted the car until the damage had been rectified. Unfortunately we accepted in good faith. In addition to the damage, albeit a small thing there were also multiple muddy smear marks on the interior car door and mud in the inner tubing of the bottom of the door. It was disappointing that the car couldn’t have been valeting or at least wiped prior to us picking up the car. On mentioning it to the salesman; I would have hoped he would have just got someone to clean it but instead made us feel silly by asking if we wanted a complete valet in a voice that said this was ridiculous and of course as we then felt silly for bringing up the mud. We ended up getting cleaning our car at home which is not what you want to do the day you buy a new car. I would appreciate it if you could assist in resolving our outstanding concern as we seem to have reached an impasse with the dealership.
