Beware this firm - you could lose out more than once

I was contacted in April 2021 by this firm to tell me there were strong grounds to appeal the bank’s decision on missold PPI. They wanted to take it to the ombudsman. I agreed immediately - text confirmation there and then from them to say they were acting. I had not heard anything since so I requested an update yesterday. The response was it was now out of the timeframe for appeals, that it would have been rejected anyway because of things that the bank did in 2012. They didn’t even seem to be aware they’d written to me and were talking as if I were asking them now to appeal. In addition, the response didn’t seem to be aware that the strong case they had said I had was about an account taken out in 2005. So now, I’m unable to use a different law firm to appeal. So now, no financial compensation in spite of having a strong case for missold PPI. I feel this firm has let me down seriously. I get an apology on the phone today - I’m a disabled elderly woman who has been financially disadvantaged by this entire fiasco, now it would seem twice - once by the bank and now by the failure of this firm. Failures which lie in either poor and/or inaccurate advice, poor and/or inaccurate information when speaking to the ombudsman (wrong account!) and failing to keep the client informed - which has resulted in my being denied alternative legal support to pursue my case (out of time now). They don’t listen properly when you ring them, the person answering has a set routine of responses. Very poor practice. I wouldn’t touch them with a barge pole and I’m ringing the Law Society tomorrow about the quality of this practice.
