Hire a car in Alicante. On returning there was no one there to inspect and I was told it was done automatically(?). I waited for the deposit to return only to have ~500Eur withheld for damage. I asked for proof of the damage (photo) and was told I needed to send the photos I took returning the car to proof there was no damage !! What !! send photos of no damage!! Surely if they claim there is damage they should show proof (photo/repair cert/invoice). They claimed their policy was you had to prove 'no damage' --What !! going to take through European Consumer centre ECC. Also, fuel refund take 28 days
