Be very careful booking
We have a holiday booked to Mauritius, but we recently found out that I was pregnant. My last pregnancy was extremely high-risk and required constant medical care, so it’s just not safe or sensible to travel 20+ hours across the world right now. Despite booking through Travel Republic 60 days before the holiday and cancelling 7 days after I booked they’ve told us that because the flights have been ticketed they cant refund our £1,400 flights, (looks like the 14 day cooling off period doesn't exist any more). I'm not even asking for a refund, I would be more than happy to have the credit with Travel Republic. They offered to move the flights but it has to be within a year… but we’re having a baby. We won’t be taking a long-haul trip with a newborn under two months old! I’ve used Travel Republic for multiple holidays in the past, only ever had 1 small issues but nothing major, but this experience has been shocking. No empathy, no flexibility, no loyalty. When speaking to friends and families who have had to cancel holidays due to unforeseen circumstances even whilst their tickets have been "ticketed" they've been able to get company credit, I know this as a fact with Love Holidays or Holiday Gems. Whats worse is that the flights are with Emirates and Travel Republic and Emirates are under the dnata wing so they would have even more capacity to do something about it. When I rang Emirates themselves they told us it’s down to the travel agent's discretion, however travel republic have lied and told me its in the hand of emirates. If you have any uncertainty in your life, be very careful booking with them. As soon as you pay nothing is their problem.
