Refund refused despite EU consumer rights – support stopped responding
I signed up for what I understood to be a trial after making a $1.99 payment. During the trial period, I made 10 generations and then stopped using the service. After seven days, my subscription was automatically renewed for $29.99. I did not use the service after this renewal and contacted DaVinci Support, but my refund request was refused. What is particularly frustrating is that DaVinci’s own Refund Policy states that consumers in the European Union may have statutory consumer rights and that their refund policy is subject to applicable law. I therefore contacted support again and explained that the 10 generations were made during the trial period, not during the paid subscription, and asked them to reconsider the refund. My second email was simply ignored. I have still not received a substantive response. I am not asking for something unreasonable or trying to keep a service I used. I cancelled immediately and did not use the paid subscription. I simply believe that the $29.99 renewal charge should be reviewed in accordance with the applicable EU consumer protection rules. Unfortunately, my experience with DaVinci Support has been very disappointing: the payment was automatically renewed, my refund was refused, and when I raised the issue again with reference to their own EU refund provisions, I received no response. I would strongly recommend that DaVinci make the trial-to-paid-subscription terms completely clear and properly address refund requests from EU consumers rather than simply ignoring follow-up complaints.
